40 Book Challenge

Each year, I challenge my students to read 40 books. This is not a competition or an assignment. It is a challenge I hope they will work toward. I encourage students to read widely, trying every genre, to improve their reading ability by expanding their reading experiences. I believe there is a reader in all off us and that there is a ‘right’ book out there for every student. I believe reading is a personal journey, and research shows that readers who have a choice in what they read are more motivated and engaged in that journey.  Below are the 40 Book Challenge sheets for grades 1-2 and 3-5. Kindergarten classes will work on meeting their 40 Book Challenge as a class. Happy reading!
