New Schilling Farms Elementary School Principal Announced

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. – Director of Schools Dr. Gary Lilly is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lisa Burton as the next principal of Schilling Farms Elementary School. Burton currently serves as principal at Germantown Middle School in Memphis-Shelby County Schools. She will succeed Dr. Georgette Cleaves, who announced in April that she would step down as principal at the end of the current school year.

Burton began her professional career in New York City in 2006 as an elementary special educator. In 2015, she relocated to Shelby County, where she taught fourth grade Instructional Resource at Kate Bond Elementary School. The following year, Burton joined the faculty at Collierville Middle School as a sixth grade co-teacher. Her subsequent administrative résumé includes four years (2017-2021) as an assistant principal at Collierville Middle School and two years (2021-2023) as principal of Germantown Middle School. 

Burton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Clark Atlanta University, a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Queens College, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from The College of Saint Rose. She and her husband, Joe, reside in Collierville with their two children, AutumnRose and Joe Jr. She will officially assume her new role with Collierville Schools on July 3rd.
