What Is a School-Parent Compact?
A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement jointly developed by families, school staff, and students that explains how we will work together to support student achievement and help students meet Tennessee's academic standards.
Effective Compacts
- Connect to the goals in the School Improvement Plan.
- Describe how teachers will provide high-quality instruction.
- Share strategies families can use to support learning at home.
- Explain how students can take responsibility for their learning.
- Describe how families and teachers will communicate about student progress.
- Provide opportunities for families to participate, volunteer, and engage with the school.
The compact is reviewed and revised annually with input from families, students, teachers, and school staff.
Building Partnerships
Families may contact the school for opportunities to volunteer, participate in, or observe classroom activities in accordance with school procedures. Some of these events include:

Communication Is Key
SFES is committed to regular, two-way, meaningful communication with families about student learning in a language families can understand.
Weekly Folders: These will contain graded assignments and assessments.
Technology Updates: You can find updates on our website, ParentSquare, Schoology, and PowerSchool.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Scheduled conferences take place in September and February. The School-Parent Compact will be discussed during the conference as it relates to your child's individual achievement. Families may request additional conferences as needed.
If you have any questions about your child's progress, please send a ParentSquare message to their teacher.
Jointly Developed
The Schilling Farms Elementary School-Parent Compact was jointly developed with input from families, students, teachers, and school staff. Families provided feedback through surveys and opportunities for input during the development process. The compact is reviewed and revised annually based on student needs, school goals, and family feedback. Families are encouraged to provide comments and suggestions throughout the school year.
